Mar. 19, 2018: NJHA Participates in Patient Safety Awareness Week Twitter Chat

NJHA chimed in on leadership and engagement topics during a Twitter chat Friday, wrapping up the 2018 Patient Safety Awareness Week.

Led by organizers of the annual event, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, providers and advocates from around the country shared tools, anecdotes and strategies for putting patient safety first using the hashtag #PSAW18.

The first question asked by IHI was on actions and initiatives foster trust, respect and inclusion in healthcare. The success of active, engaged and diverse patient and family advisory councils, one of the projects of the New Jersey Hospital Improvement Innovation Network, was shared as an example strategy to involve patients and caregivers in their own care.

Other participants in the chat included the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Joint Commission and various hospital associations around the country – including the American Hospital Association.
