Nov. 22, 2017: Reminder: State GME Survey Due Dec. 6

The state fiscal year 2018 budget passed earlier this year requires institutions receiving graduate medical education subsidies to submit certain data to the Department of Health.

Grantees are required to submit data on the number of expected graduating residents as well as resident retention rates. The survey for the 2018 budget year is due Dec. 6.

In contrast to the FY 2017 survey, the 2018 version will require submission of data on both residents and fellows. The 2018 state budget also included language related to opioid prescriber training for residents. The survey also includes questions designed to inform the Department of Health on this issue. However, the 2018 survey is separate and apart from the budget language’s requirement that each teaching hospital certify opioid training for residents by May 31. More information on the opioid certification is expected at a later date.

The fiscal year 2018 survey was transmitted to hospitals earlier this month. Hospitals are required to complete the survey by Dec. 6.
