Sept. 21, 2016: Register Today: NJHA’s Healthcare Ethics Committee Symposium

NJHA’s Health Care Ethics Committee Symposium, scheduled for Sept. 22 and Oct. 13, is designed to address the vital role of ethics committees and their unique responsibilities, including education, clinical ethics consultation and policy development and review. Register today for this valuable program.

Care-providing facilities, including acute care hospitals, nursing homes and home care agencies, are required as a condition of accreditation by The Joint Commission to have a standing mechanism to address ethical issues. Using case studies, published materials, institutional policies and personal experiences, this symposium will explore issues that typically require ethical analysis and resolution, including informed consent and refusal, decisional capacity and decision making by and for patients, truth telling and confidentiality, care at the beginning and end of life, justice and access to healthcare services and organizational ethics.

Ethics committees come in all shapes, sizes and stages of development; their members bring varying skill sets, knowledge bases and levels of experience. Because its central focus will be skills and strategies to enhance ethics committee effectiveness as an organizational resource, this intensive two-day symposium is essential for anyone who chairs, serves on or supports healthcare ethics committees.

Registration is still open for the two-day program at NJHA Conference and Event Center.
