May 26, 2016: Veterans Health Screening Series Lands at Army Air Field Museum

NJHA’s Veteran health navigators were stationed at the Millville Army Air Field Museum this past Friday and Saturday as part of its series of health screening events for U.S. service members.

It’s all part of the Serving Those Who Served initiative, led by NJHA with support from the N.J. Department of Health, provided via a grant to Kennedy Health. NJHA is partnering with Kennedy Health and other healthcare groups to reposition the Mobile Satellite Emergency Department at events in central and southern New Jersey to offer free health screenings and referrals to veterans.

This past weekend, Inspira Health Network employees provided services such as hepatitis C screenings, blood pressure checks, cholesterol tests and more. NJHA’s Veteran navigators serve as trusted liaisons with their fellow service members, providing information and referrals for insurance coverage or additional healthcare services.

Next stop: the New Jersey Elks Convention June 2-4 at the Wildwoods Convention Center, where clinical teams will be provided by AtlantiCare and Rowan Family Medicine.

Previous events included the Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day ceremony in Holmdel, staffed by Meridian Bayshore Community Hospital, and the Power in the Pines Air Show in Pemberton, staffed by Rowan Family Medicine.

In addition, NJHA is hosting a free educational event, Managing the Complexity of Veteran Health: Serving Those Who Have Served, June 13 at the NJHA Conference and Events Center in Princeton.
