May 2, 2016: NJHA Veteran Navigators Launch Spring Outreach Programs

Seven Veteran health navigators, hired by NJHA through several grant programs, will begin a series of healthcare outreach events this spring to connect Veterans in the state with healthcare and social services.

A new Facebook page has been created, “Serving Those Who Served,” to promote these programs to former service members. The public page, which lists upcoming events and compiles news coverage, is available to anyone and easy to “Like” and “Share.”

The first outreach event, with a Mobile Satellite Emergency Department unit staffed by Meridian Health, will be held Saturday, May 7, in conjunction with the N.J. Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day Ceremony at the N.J. Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Holmdel. The navigators and medical staff will be there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing free health screenings and peer support to Veterans.

Additional events will be held throughout May and June in conjunction with other Veterans programs. For more information on the Veteran navigator outreach program, visit the Facebook page. NJHA encourages members to “Like” and “Share” the page with their communities.
