Mar. 14, 2016: Register Today for Early Bird Rates for AHA’s 2016 Annual Meeting

The American Hospital Association will hold its 2016 Annual Membership Meeting May 1-4 in Washington, D.C., and NJHA is planning a robust offering of events to coincide with the conference.

This year’s AHA gathering, to be held at the Washington Hilton, will feature several speakers and briefings to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the hospital field. Key healthcare topics to be discussed at the AHA forums include: a session on engaging in new partnerships between hospitals and post-acute providers to improve care and lower costs; how health plan consolidation affects hospitals and patients; and a congressional chiefs of staff panel discussing how policy and politics play out in the health and hospital field.

NJHA staff will hold a briefing at 4 p.m. Monday, May 1, and lead a series of Capitol Hill visits Tuesday afternoon with the N.J. federal delegation.

In addition, NJHA will host dinner for members at two of the city’s most popular restaurants, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on Sunday evening and Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crab on Monday evening.

Trustee education sessions include a presentation by James E. Orlikoff, president of Orlikoff & Associates, Inc. and senior consultant to the Center for Healthcare Governance, who will present on the governance implications of consumerism and a second trustee session regarding governance of collaborative partnerships that improve community health.

The agenda contains prominent keynote speakers such as Mike Allen, White House correspondent from Politico, Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday, and Megyn Kelly, anchor of Fox News Channel’s The Kelly File, who will explore the current political climate and will share election year insights.

NJHA encourages CEOs and government relations officers to attend, as well as bring a member of their management team, a physician, a trustee or a volunteer. A large and visible presence will reinforce the intensity of our advocacy efforts.
