Jan. 20, 2016: MedPAC Votes on 340B Recommendations

Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) commissioners voted to reduce Medicare Part B payments rates for 340B Drug Pricing Program hospitals by 10 percent of the average sales price for fiscal year 2017.

Savings resulting from this reduction would be redirected to the Medicare-funded uncompensated care pool. The funds are redistributed based on data from worksheet S-10 found in Medicare cost reports. MedPAC also voted to recommend the update of inpatient and outpatient payments in accordance with current law.

Yesterday’s action follows several recent 340B developments:

More than 20 New Jersey hospitals are 340B Program participants. NJHA strongly supports this important program for safety-net providers and will continue advocating for its preservation with regulators and legislators alike.
