Oct. 30, 2015: NJHA Toolkit Helps Providers ‘Prepare and Protect’ Against Infectious Disease

NJHA has developed the Prepare & Protect toolkit to support healthcare providers in their readiness efforts for an array of infectious diseases including Ebola.

Developed with grant support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the toolkit has two components: education and training materials for clinicians, along with consumer education materials for communications and public relations staff. The resources are available on the Ebola page on the NJHA Web site.

Clinical resources include checklists and training materials for donning and doffing protective gear, among others. The Web site features a sampling of the clinical tools, but additional resources and support materials were shared on disk with clinical leaders. In addition, NJHA has secured a supply of personal protective equipment for training purposes. Providers and first responders interested in this training should contact Aline Holmes in the NJHA Clinical Affairs department.

The community education resources – all available online – include videos, infographics, sample social media content and a Twitter chat guide for engaging local experts in community discussions via social media. The materials can be used in addressing seasonal influenza and other types of infectious illness in addition to Ebola.
