Nov. 5, 2015: DOH Funds Interpreter Training for Bilingual Nursing Home Staff

NJHA’s Health Research and Educational Trust has received civil money penalty funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services through the N.J. Department of Health to train up to 40 bilingual nursing home staff using a one-day, eight-hour healthcare interpreter training course.

There is no cost to nursing homes, with DOH offering registration refunds. Nursing homes that register staff for this course will pay the registration fee up-front; upon full completion of the course requirements, HRET will submit the documentation to DOH for each participant, and the facility will receive reimbursement of the registration fee from the state.

Two dates and locations are available:

  • North: Nov. 13 at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville.
  • Central/South: Nov. 18 at AtlantiCare in Atlantic City

NJHA’s program has helped train more than 500 healthcare workers at 34 healthcare facilities to better serve the state’s diverse populations.

Registration materials for the subsidized nursing home program are available from HRET at research@njha.com or 609-275-4145
