Nov. 16, 2015: Help Spread the Word: ‘Get Smart About Antibiotics’

This week is “Get Smart About Antibiotics Week,” and NJHA urges its members to be part of this effort to raise awareness about proper antibiotic use.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has designated Nov. 16-20 as a time to educate the community and providers about the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing. Each day will explore different aspects of the issue, including the role of patients and families, clinicians and prescribing practices, the impact of farming and agriculture and more.

The N.J. Department of Health is a participating state partner to assist in the dissemination of messages and materials. DOH encourages all of its public health care partners to help spread the word. The CDC Web site provides a number of promotional and educational resources
