The Garden State Patient Safety Center is a "Patient Safety Organization" (PSO) listed by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The Garden State Patient Safety Center is a component of the Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey, serving to improve healthcare quality through data collection and analysis.

The PSO will collect data electronically on important clinical outcomes and processes including:

  • hospital readmissions
  • off-label use of antipsychotics
  • medication errors
  • falls and fall assessments
  • pressure ulcers
  • pain management
  • and many others
