Day of Unplugging

NJHA is taking part this week in the national observance of a National Day of Unplugging March 5-6. With four in 10 adults reporting symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder during the pandemic, this observance is one small way to help individuals cope with the stresses of the pandemic. This effort also builds on NJHA’s campus outreach initiative Unplug and Connect, which focuses on community health and the importance of good human connections. The goal? To encourage people to put down their phones, relax, breathe and talk to people – even if it’s while masked and socially distanced.

NJHA has created a fillable social media sign for individuals to state their commitment to their mental health by unplugging for the day. You can download and print it here: Unplugged-Connect-Sign.pdf (njha.com)  Simply take a photo of yourself holding your personalized sign and share on social media beginning March 4 using the hashtag #UnplugandConnectNJ. NJHA will promote #UnplugandConnectNJ on its social media feeds throughout the month of March and encourages members to join us.
