Mar. 31, 2017: HHS Launches Site Dedicated to Administrative Changes to ACA

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), last week launched a new web page as part of HHS.gov listing ways it will stabilize individual and small group insurance markets, which are most affected by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The site clearly notes the current Administration’s view of the ACA, stating “…with skyrocketing premiums and narrowing choices, the Affordable Care Act has done damage to this market and created great burdens for many Americans.”

Per HHS, the site is intended to be a resource for citizens to monitor the actions the department will be taking to achieve its goals including:

  • Lower costs and increase choices by providing relief from the burdensome regulations and fostering competition in insurance markets;
  • Offer states greater flexibility in their Medicaid programs to meet the needs of their most vulnerable populations; and
  • Increase the opportunities for patients to get the care they need when they need it.

The site also indicates that HHS is going through every page of regulations and guidance related to the ACA to determine whether they work for patients and whether they are making our healthcare system better.
