May 5, 2016: Fun, Developmental Event Focuses on Administrative Professionals

In offices around the country, day-to-day operations run smoothly because of skilled administrative professionals. While Administrative Professionals Week is observed during the last week of April, the celebration of these hardworking men and women continues May 13 during an all-day conference at NJHA.

Administrative Professionals in Healthcare: Celebrating You! is open to CEO/senior leadership  executive assistants, office managers, administrative assistants, unit coordinators or anyone in an administrative position who would benefit from attending an uplifting and motivating session. Speakers include Ty Howard, CEO and founder of Motivation magazine, and Jennifer Velez, senior vice president of community and behavioral health for RWJ Barnabas Health and former commissioner of the N.J. Department of Human Services.

The celebration of administrative personnel began in the mid-20th century. During World War II, there was a shortage of skilled administrative personnel in the United States due to Depression-era birth-rate decline and booming post-war business. The National Secretaries Association, founded in 1942, was formed to recognize the contributions of administrative personnel to the economy, support their personal development and to help attract workers to the administrative field.

The last full week of April became Administrative Professionals Week in 2000 to encompass the expanding responsibilities and wide-ranging job titles of administrative support staff in the modern economy. NJHA invites members to celebrate their indispensable administrative professionals by offering them the opportunity to attend this fun, developmental event.  Click here to register
