June 3, 2016: DOH Commissioner Bennett, NJHA’s Ryan Talk Veterans Health

N.J. Health Commissioner Cathleen Bennett and NJHA’s Betsy Ryan spent time in Wildwood talking with Veteran Health Navigators about healthcare delivery for former service members.

The event was in coordination with free veteran health screenings, supported by a grant to Kennedy Health through DOH, provided by clinicians from AtlantiCare and Rowan Family Medicine. The screenings will continue through Saturday in conjunction with the New Jersey Elks Convention, being held at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

This is the fourth weekend of free health screenings through the grant program. Veteran Navigators, hired by NJHA, have been on hand to provide peer support and fill in gaps in care and social services. Clinicians utilized the Mobile Satellite Emergency Department to provide primary care, such as blood pressure monitoring, viral Hepatitis testing and mental health screening.
