July 12, 2016: Office of Population Affairs Hosting Zika Webinar

The Office of Population Affairs, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is hosting a Zika webinar July 13 to give providers a better understanding of the tools available to prevent transmission of the virus among patients.

The webinar, “Zika Toolkit: Expanding Access to Quality Family Planning and Zika-related Care,” will begin at 1 p.m. and is free to providers who register. The webinar will: review the OPA’s Zika Toolkit; outline steps healthcare providers can take when counseling a non-pregnant woman or men about preventing transmission; how hospital systems and states are using specific programs to address a possible outbreak; and education and training materials on quality contraceptive counseling in the context of Zika.

Clinicians and administrators who provide family planning services are encouraged to register and view the webinar. Continuing Nursing Education credit or Continuing Medical Education credit is available for participants, free of charge.

Those interested in attending the webinar are required to register online. A recording of the webinar will be made available in the future.
