Dec. 11, 2015: Governor Signs Healthcare Emergency Generator Bill

Gov. Christie signed into law S-854/A-1341, which requires certain healthcare facilities to be generator ready and provides state loans for the cost of the generators.

NJHA supports the measure, which was introduced in the wake of Superstorm Sandy and the widespread power outages that hit the state. Under the measure, healthcare facilities will be able to seek funding from the Energy Resilience Bank, a pool of capital managed by the state Economic Development Authority. The measure specifically focuses on nursing homes, assisted living facilities, dialysis centers and federally qualified health centers.

On Friday, NJHA will join in a meeting at the Governor’s office with the Health Care Association of New Jersey and the Health Care Facilities Financing Authority to discuss financing options.
