Healthcare Quality

New Jersey’s hospitals and hospital systems provide care ranking among the best in the country – and New Jerseyans rightly expect that high-quality care when they need it. According to the 2022 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report published by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (“AHRQ”), New Jersey’s hospitals are among the top in the nation for quality of care provided for the period reviewed (2016-2021). Additionally, we are one of the states with the fewest overall racial and ethnic disparities in access to quality care, something that is critically important in a region as diverse as ours.

It takes a collaborative effort between health systems, legislators, policymakers, and community leaders to ensure accessible, equitable, and high-quality health care is available across New Jersey. One of the biggest challenges providers are facing is the current workforce shortages. These shortages have more than doubled labor costs for certain health professions and they require thoughtful solutions and resources to attract and retain vital health care workers in our pipeline for the future.

The recent pandemic demonstrated how critical a strong health care workforce is for our state and nation.

Our 150,000 team members are working every day to address today’s challenges and support the needs of the current healthcare workforce. We are focused on attracting talented individuals to grow the healthcare workforce of tomorrow as we continue to provide New Jerseyans with the high-quality health care they have come to expect.
