Donation Advocacy Forum - May 14, 2019

NJ Sharing Network is the non-profit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant. Nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents are currently awaiting transplation. The New Jersey Sharing Network is also part of the national recovery system, which is in place for the 115,000 people on the national waiting list.

Studies have shown that when organizations come together in an all-teach, all-learn environment, best practices around organ and tissue donation are enhanced and outcomes for increased organ donation are improved. The work of NJ Saring Network, in collaration with its hospital partners seek to share knowledge based on organ and tissue donation advocacy in order to spread awareness and increase the number or organ and tissue donations across the state.

  • Describe the current crisis in the shortage and demand of tissue and organ availability both in New Jersey and nationally.
  • Explain fonor management and best practices for joint collaboration between the hospital and the NJ Sharing Network, standing order sets for organ procurement and data to ensure postive donation outcomes.
  • Understand laws and regulations surrounding organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
