Early Detection Saves Lives: A Guide to Breast Cancer Screening Services in New Jersey
Click here to quickly find mammography providers by county.
Early detection of breast cancer is the key to surviving this disease. Knowing where to go to receive a regular mammogram, as recommend by the American Cancer Society, is important. This resource guide contains a comprehensive directory of all certified mammography sites in New Jersey, including information on their free or reduced-cost screening, evening or weekend hours, insurance accepted, education and support services, transportation assistance and accessibility for women with disabilities. Also included are general information about breast cancer, its risk factors, detection, treatment and other services; contact information for state and local agencies that provide other cancer and health-related services; and links to resources with additional information about breast cancer.
The "Description of the Directory" includes information about the process of surveying mammography facilities certified in New Jersey and collecting comprehensive information from all 265 facilities as of June 2003 when the statewide guide was published. Since then, our records have been updated to include newly certified facilities and to remove those no longer providing mammograms. We will continue to update our online directory every six months, based on the FDA database.
This resource guide is also available in print, both as a statewide directory and county-specific brochures. For a print copy, or for more information about the contents of this guide, please contact the Research Department at the Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey at 609-275-4145.
