Completed Projects

Bring Your Baby Back
During 1995 - 1997, HRET produced a video and educational materials to inform new parents about the importance of returning to the hospital for newborn screening follow-up tests to reduce the impact of inborn diseases.

Covering Kids
New Jersey health access initiative for low-income uninsured children, 1999 - 2002. Part of a national program.

Domestic Violence
This study focused on the process of providing care for victims of domestic violence in hospital ERs and community agencies. The goal was to investigate the current practices; assess providers' clinical, social, resource and educational needs; and make recommendations for effective identification of victims and enhanced coordination between medical, mental and social service systems, ultimately improving access and quality of care for victims.

Electronic Birth Certificates
Through this project, HRET developed an integrated statewide perinatal database for collecting birth certificate data, newborn hearing screening information, and certificates of parentage and forwarding these to the state.

Parenting Education
This education and outreach program provided a resource guide to help new parents and caretakers get the information and guidance they need about caring for babies, handling difficult situations, using alternative discipline methods, ensuring babies' safety and seeking assistance through support groups listed in the guide. The purpose is to reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect in New Jersey.
