IntroductionThe Research Department develops research projects and educational programs on topics important to HRET's mission and actively participates in various campaigns to raise public and providers' awareness about vital healthcare issues. Our outreach and educational resources empower consumers to make more informed choices concerning their healthcare and link them to sources of assistance for improved access to care. Our research-driven tools help healthcare providers improve the quality and efficiency of their care and assist them in serving their communities more effectively. HRET's publications and educational resources include guides, toolkits, brochures, videotapes, posters and Web sites. Many of these projects are collaborative efforts with state, federal, academic, corporate, healthcare and social service agencies and are funded by grants from state/federal agencies, foundations and corporations. In addition to special research and educational projects, the Research Department offers its expertise and services to the other NJHA departments in the areas of development and analysis of surveys, project design and preparation of grant proposals.Annually, HRET recognizes hospitals with unique and effective methods of identifying and reaching out to better serve the healthcare needs of area residents.
