Individual Mandate

Person2The ACA's "individual mandate" requires individuals to carry health insurance coverage or face a penalty – much like auto insurance rules. The law also provides tax credits and other help for those who can't afford coverage. Among the new resources required under the ACA is a "health insurance exchange" that makes it easier for consumers to shop for health insurance and sign up for coverage. These exchanges are called the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Health Insurance Marketplace

BasketpngEach state has the option of running its own Health Insurance Marketplace or joining a national marketplace. New Jersey has opted to join the national marketplace at www.Healthcare.gov.
That site provides New Jersey residents with details about
their insurance options, enrollment information and other resources to make it easier to sign up for health insurance.
