NJHA Institute for Quality and Patient Safety

For Antimicrobial Resistance Initiative (AMRI) Members

NJHA's AMRI is funded by the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey and implemented through a partnership with the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and the NJHA Institute for Quality and Patient Safety. The initiative was designed to help hospitals and healthcare facilities improve patient safety and the quality of care provided in all healthcare settings where antimicrobial resistance and Foley catheters are used. Participating hospitals work with leading experts in antimicrobial resistance, catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) and patient safety and with each other over the course of one year. They will focus on several dimensions of care including appropriate indications for indwelling urinary catheters and treatment of CAUTI. Participating hospitals will learn the principles of high reliability organizations and improvement strategies that can be applied to practices and systems to ensure that recommended care and information is delivered consistently to all patients.
