Social Vulnerability and COVID Hotspots

U.S. counties with higher ratings for social vulnerability were more likely to become COVID-19 hotspots, according to a new analysis in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. In the analysis, counties with a higher percentage of racial and ethnic minority residents, high-density housing structures and crowded housing units were at higher risk for becoming a COVID-19 hotspot, especially in less urban areas.
