Research Underscores Importance of COVID-19 Precautions

Touted as the most comprehensive study to date on COVID-19 transmission, researchers writing for The Lancet state that keeping at least one meter from other people as well as wearing face coverings and eye protection, in and outside of healthcare settings, could be the best way to reduce the chance of transmission of COVID-19. The article is based on a meta-analysis synthesizing all the available evidence from the scientific literature. The authors caution, however, that “even when properly used and combined, none of these interventions offers complete protection, and other basic protective measures (such as hand hygiene) are essential to reduce transmission.”
