New Jersey's COVID Alert App

Gov. Murphy joined with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to announce a growing regional network of COVID-19 mobile apps to support contact tracing efforts. The apps, COVID Alert NJ and COVID Alert NY, notify users of potential COVID-19 exposure while maintaining user privacy and security. With this launch, New Jersey and New York join Pennsylvania and Delaware in creating a regional COVID Alert app network that operates across state lines. Connecticut has also announced it will launch an app in the near future using the same technology.

The free mobile apps – available to anyone 18 or older who lives, works, or attends college in New Jersey or New York — are available for download from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

NJDOH is asking the provider community to help spread the word about the COVID Alert NJ app. To assist in these efforts, DOH has developed a community toolkit containing fact sheets, infographics, social media content, email templates and more. Additional details about how the app works are also available on the state’s COVID-19 site. Questions about the app may be directed to COVIDapp@doh.nj.gov.
