Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli issued a directive to hospitals allowing one support person for women in labor and delivery throughout the COVID-19 response. The memo issued states, “The Department of Health considers one support person essential to patient care throughout labor, delivery and the immediate postpartum period.” NJHA’s voluntary guidelines for visitor restrictions, adopted March 13, are consistent with the state’s position.
