CDC Stresses Harms of Using eCigarettes

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention examined the issue of youth e-cigarette use nationally.  Parents and teachers are encouraged to protect youth and young adults from the harms of using e-cigarettes as the school year begins.

The CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 2019 data showed that more than 5 million U.S. youth, including over one in four high school students and about one in 10 middle school students used e-cigarettes in the past 30 days.

CDC resources to support quitting smoking are available in English and Spanish and include quitlines, the quitSTART app, a free smartphone app with tailored tips for users, no-cost texting services, and informational links and toolkits.
