New Jersey hospitals’ success in reducing healthcare-associated infections is featured in the Safe Healthcare Blog from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC highlights the work of the Targeted Assessment for Prevention (TAP) collaborative under the guidance of NJHA’s Health Research and Educational Trust. Working in concert with 17 member hospitals, the TAP program achieved a decline of more than 20 percent in C. difficile infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) and central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI).

One key successful tactic cited by CDC was the identification of nurse and physician champions in each facility who led the charge for quality improvement.
