Value-based payment systems such as All Patients Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (APR-DRGs) have placed a new emphasis on the relationship between clinical documentation, performance improvement/quality scores and medical record coding. Correct coding will drive acute reimbursement and quality measures.

NJHA-HBS Health Information Services has developed a new service called DRG Assure that directly links clinical documentation with coding to drive more accurate severity of illness and risk of mortality scores.
