NJHA-HBS Health Information Services will be offering a webinar workshop series called Ready. Set. Code! DRIVE SUCCESS WITH ICD-10 AND PDPM for Long Term Care facilities, beginning in August.
Starting Oct. 1, skilled nursing facilities will implement the most significant change in Medicare Part A payments in decades with the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM). The focus will shift to patient or resident need in which verifiable patient-specific characteristics, treatments and diagnoses will combine to drive payment. Capturing accurate ICD-10-CM codes and proper documentation will impact payment significantly.
Registration for the WebEx-based workshop series is now open and can be accessed here. Participants will learn the differences between RUGS and PDPM, gain experience in navigating ICD-10 CM code books and become familiar with coding guidelines and documentation requirements for accurate coding.
The webinar schedule is:
- August 15: Workshop 1, a complimentary PDPM Overview will be available. Highlights of PDPM changes and an introduction to ICD-10-CM coding will be covered.
- August 22: Workshop 2, Basic ICD-10-CM Coding Skills from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- August 29: Workshop 3, Advanced ICD-10 CM Coding Skills from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Full details for each workshop are available on the brochure, which can be seen by clicking here.
