Sept. 17, 2018: NJHA and Members Host Free Sepsis Awareness Month Events


In recognition of Sepsis Awareness Month, NJHA announces two important events in September to highlight the most current evidence-based practices and innovation in sepsis improvement. Both events are free and open to all interested facilities.

The New Jersey Sepsis Learning Action Collaborative Annual Conference will be held Sept. 19, 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with expert speakers and facility poster presentations. The conference will be at the NJHA Conference and Events Center.

Topics include:

  • Discussion of the current state of sepsis quality improvement activities in New Jersey and nationally
  • How to implement a pediatric sepsis screening and treatment program
  • The functions and responsibility of the sepsis coordinator role, and
  • Relevant resources to engage patients and families in understanding the impact of sepsis and the expectation of life after sepsis.

“Think Sepsis. Save Lives. A symposium on pediatric sepsis and how we can improve our care” will be hosted by Atlantic Health System in conjunction with NJHA Sept. 20, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with an optional workshop from 12:45 to 2 p.m. The symposium will be held at Morristown Medical Center’s Malcolm Forbes Auditorium, in Morristown.

This symposium will focus on educating healthcare providers, nurses, medical staff and administrators about pediatric sepsis, its management and evidence-based practices that decrease morbidity and mortality in children with sepsis.
