Mar. 20, 2018: Medical Students Learn Residency Match

Medical students in New Jersey and around the country learned the location and specialty of the next phase of their medical education journey. Today is Match Day, the date individuals are informed of the results of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)

According to NRMP data, the 2018 Match was the largest in NRMP history, with 37,103 applicants submitted program choices for 33,167 positions, the most ever offered in the Match. Among those applicants, the number of U.S. allopathic and osteopathic medical school registrants increased, while the number of non-citizen international medical graduates declined for the second year in a row numbers.

Match data specific to New Jersey is expected at a later date. NJHA congratulates our incoming residents and fellows on their placement.
