The state Department of Human Services’ Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS) has issued advance notice regarding amendments to N.J.A.C. 10:52, the Hospital Services Manual, and N.J.A.C. 10:66, Independent Clinic Services, to address diabetes education programs.

These amendments are proposed to implement provisions of P.L. 1968, c. 413, which requires that Diabetes Self-Management Education, Medical Nutrition Therapy and Diabetes Prevention Program for pre-diabetes diagnosis only be provided as covered services under the Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare program to individuals who have been diagnosed with diabetes, gestational diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Comments will be accepted until March 21. All comments regarding the advance notice of the upcoming proposed rulemaking should be sent to DMAHS’ Margaret M. Rose at Margaret.Rose@dhs.state.nj.us.
