NJHA has produced a series of resources to educate consumers on navigating their insurance plans, called Putting the Pieces Together. NJHA invites members to use the tools with their audiences.

The first installment, Your step-by-step guide to using insurance, was released in late 2016, in English and Spanish. NJHA is now releasing the second installment, Your guide to using tiered networks, with a complementary video on using online provider directories. 

Your guide to using tiered networks will help patients understand that in-network and out-of-network may only be the first step in considering the cost of a service. The guide is also available in English and Spanish. Along with the resource is a short video giving step-by-step instructions on using an online provider directory, called Putting the Pieces Together: Using a provider directory.

All three resources are available on the Insurance Guide landing page. As more pieces in the series – both PDF and video – are created, they will be added to this page. It is also accessible through the new NJHA Consumer Portal.

NJHA is working with partner organizations to share these easy-to-understand products with consumers and community members. Additionally, the video is available to download from Vimeo or YouTube to share on social media and for healthcare providers to play on televisions in patient waiting areas.
