Dec. 10, 2018: Why Assisted Living Facilities Should Use a PSO: Complimentary Webinar Dec. 17

NJHA is hosting a complementary educational webinar Dec. 17 on the benefits to assisted living facilities of using a patient safety organization (PSO) to improve quality and reduce liability.

The webinar, beginning at 1 p.m., features Peggy Binzer, JD, executive director of the Alliance for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety.

PSOs were developed through the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005, which established a voluntary reporting system designed to enhance the data available to assess and resolve patient safety and healthcare quality issues. To encourage the reporting and analysis of medical errors, the Act provides federal privilege and confidentiality protections for patient safety information, called patient safety work product.

Topics in this webinar will include:

  • Basics of the Patient Safety Act
  • PSO membership benefits for an assisted-living organization
  • How to protect information within the quality processes
  • What is your organization’s Patient Safety Evaluation System?
  • What is “patient safety work product”?
  • Services provided by the PSO to its member communities.
