Apr. 24, 2018: NJHA to Host Political Activity and Ethics Education Program


NJHA will host the conference “Staying Legal in a Political World” May 22 to provide perspective on the myriad laws that affect political activity.

Special emphasis will be given to the issues most likely to affect incorporated hospitals and similar organizations in the areas of campaign finance, lobbying disclosure, federal and state gift regulation and IRS treatment of political activity. 

Segments of the presentation will specifically address:

  • Corporate political activity under federal and state campaign finance laws and IRS rules
  • Lobbying disclosure and regulation under federal, state and local ethics rules
  • Ethics and laws governing the provision of gifts and other items of value to federal, state and local elected officials
  • “Best practices” for setting up an internal compliance process, and managing unwanted public controversies when they arise.

This program is intended for attorneys, compliance officers, government relation officers and ethics committee members. Continuing Legal Education credits will be provided.
