Oct. 10, 2017: Healthcare Community Preps for Open Enrollment

Healthcare organizations, nationally and locally, have been ramping up efforts to publicize the upcoming open enrollment period for Marketplace health insurance. The window for applying for 2018 coverage is shorter this year, from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, making public awareness and outreach even more important.

This morning the American Hospital Association issued a digital tool kit with graphics that can be used on social media sites. In addition, AHA will provide the following resources:

  • 30- and 60-second videos in both English and Spanish to promote enrollment among young adults
  • Podcasts highlighting member success stories with enrollment promotion activities
  • Talking points to use when engaging with stakeholders in the community.

NJHA staff joined with organizations from around the state in a coalition meeting yesterday to determine best uses of limited resources to promote open enrollment. Watch for New Jersey-specific tools to come from NJHA and the coalition in the near future. NJHA recently issued a survey to the communications departments of members to gather information on what activities individual organizations are planning for open enrollment and any areas in which they need assistance. Responses to the surveys are still needed.

In the interim, NJHA has updated its enrollment information website with key dates, provider resources and useful links.
