June 30, 2017: NJHA Hosts Twitter Chat with Sen. Menendez, Patient Groups

NJHA hosted a Twitter chat with Sen. Bob Menendez and several patient advocacy groups to share New Jersey-specific information on the Better Care Reconciliation Act.

Using the hashtag #NJandBCRA, anyone on Twitter could ask questions about how the bill would impact the Garden State.

Over the course of an hour, questions about the impact on people with disabilities, senior citizens and vulnerable children were all addressed by Menendez, The Arc of New Jersey, AARP New Jersey and NJHA. Other topics included Medicaid per capita caps and the BCRA’s potential impact on jobs and the economy. A recap of the entire chat can be found on Storify.

As part of the chat, NJHA’s Betsy Ryan released a new blog post debunking some of the disinformation circulating about the BCRA. She dissects claims that the proposal would keep Medicaid funding intact, that the current insurance marketplace is imploding and that the law would protect people with pre-existing health conditions.
