June 27, 2017: NJHA to Host Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative Education Session July 11

NJHA is planning a full-day conference July 11 devoted to improving antimicrobial use across healthcare settings and sharing best practices with peers.

Improving the use of antimicrobials in healthcare to protect patients and reduce the threat of antimicrobial assistance is a national priority. Antimicrobial stewardship refers to a set of commitments and actions designed to optimize the treatment of infections while reducing the adverse events associated with antimicrobial use.

The mission of the NJHA Antimicrobial Stewardship Learning Action Collaborative is to promote the use of the appropriate agent, dose, duration and route of administration of antimicrobial agents in acute care and post-acute settings to increase healthcare quality and safety while reducing costs.

The conference will provide updates in antimicrobial stewardship, the history of antimicrobial resistance and the use of antibiotic stewardship to reduce C.difficile infection. This program is targeted to physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and public health professionals.
