Feb. 01, 2017: President Signs Executive Order Reducing Regulations

President Trump signed an Executive Order to reduce federal regulations by requiring departments and agencies to remove two prior regulations for each new one issued.

Many healthcare stakeholders are heralding the move as an opportunity to reduce fiscal burden and administrative oversight caused by onerous or confusing regulations. Much remains to be seen about how this new “one-in, two-out” approach will unfold.

American Hospital Association President and CEO Rick Pollack praised the move, stating, “The regulatory burden that is imposed on hospitals and health systems is substantial and unsustainable, and has grown in recent years. We are encouraged by the executive order signed by President Trump today that will help reduce red tape.”

Pollack goes on to say the move is a “good first step” toward reducing the burden on hospitals and health systems.
