NJHA will offer a “train the trainer’ course Oct. 6 to introduce the TeamSTEPPS concept for healthcare professionals.
TeamSTEPPS is an evidence-based teamwork system aimed at optimizing patient outcomes by improving communication and teamwork skills among healthcare professionals. Through the use of a comprehensive set of ready-to-use materials and a training curriculum, the implementation of TeamSTEPPS in any organization facilitates successful integration of teamwork principles.
The Oct. 6 program will cover:
- The role of teamwork and communication skills in creating a culture of safety
- Essential skills needed to function as an effective team member
- Key tools to enhance situation monitoring mutual support and coaching for team members
- Resources that can be used to create a training program for front-line staff
- Implementation and sustainment techniques
- Different roles of the coach
- An action plan to implement the TeamSTEPPS model in participant organization.
