NJHA’s bi-annual Trustee Education Program for new trustees who need to fulfill the state’s mandated education requirements will be held Oct. 17 at NJHA’s Conference & Event Center.
This full-day program is designed to introduce members of a hospital governing body to the principles of hospital governance and provide an in-depth discussion on the roles and responsibilities of serving as a hospital trustee.
Dan Sinnott, who brings 30-plus years of diverse leadership experience to his role as CEO of Sinnott Executive Consulting, will lead a comprehensive discussion with new trustees on topics including:
- Fiduciary and ethical responsibilities
- Legal and regulatory compliance
- Organization and governance
- Improving the quality of healthcare
- Incentive compensation plan.
Lou Feuerstein, managing director for Grant Thornton’s Health Care practice, will discuss key topics including:
- State of the state of healthcare
- The main issues facing the healthcare industry
- The basic financial statements
- The audited financial statements and the auditor’s responsibilities
- The Board’s focus
- Healthcare reimbursement
- Key financial ratios.
The next Trustee Education Program will be scheduled for the spring of 2018.
