NJHA’s Health Research and Educational Trust continues its popular interpreter training program this fall to prepare bilingual healthcare staff members to serve as interpreters for New Jersey’s richly diverse population.
This one-day, eight-hour program will be offered at five locations across the state. It’s designed to give bilingual staff the skills and knowledge needed to facilitate communication as dual-role interpreters. The program emphasizes cultural competency, standards, policies and procedures. A team of instructors from the fields of medicine, healthcare quality and health equity lead the training.
Following are the dates and locations for the fall sessions:
- Sept. 15, Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy
- Oct. 20, CarePoint Health Christ Hospital, Jersey City
- Nov. 1, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston
- Nov. 17, Lourdes Health System, Camden
- Nov. 21, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark
NJHA has helped train more than 1,200 bilingual staff from 80 healthcare organizations under this program. Contact NJHA’s Jennifer Sryfi or Kim Hewitson for more information and registration.
