eScan is a post-service eligibility system designed to maximize reimbursements and reduce uncompensated care costs for a hospital or health system by locating previously unknown coverage on an average of 1 to 5 percent of a provider’s uncompensated care accounts. The eScan technology automatically runs all accounts against Medicare common working file and state Medicaid databases, and can pinpoint patient demographic discrepancies between hospital and payer data to identify cases where standard eligibility requests are not found.
