Apr. 12, 2017: NJHA Announces Webinar Series on Opioid Misuse

NJHA is planning a complimentary webinar series for healthcare professionals exploring several perspectives on the opioid abuse crisis. Titled Opioid Misuse: Innovative Tools to Improve Patient Care Across the Continuum, the series kicks off May 26.

A recent study published in JAMA Internal Medicine projected nearly 15 percent of opioid-naïve patients hospitalized under Medicare are discharged with a new prescription for opioids, leading to as many as 1 in 4 individuals struggling with addiction. This complimentary webinar series hosted by NJHA and its Health Research and Educational Trust will take a deep dive into how opioid misuse affects patients and healthcare workers from the perspective of numerous stakeholders, and will provide innovative tools to aid in the opioid misuse crisis.

Participants will understand the opioid misuse trends and involvement of multiple stakeholders across the continuum of care. Participants will also learn of unique, evidence-based programs to address the opioid misuse epidemic.

Participants may register for the individual sessions on the following dates, using the links below:

Details will be announced on additional webinars to be offered under the series addressing issues such as legal implications for healthcare professionals related to inappropriate opioid prescribing; substance abuse in nursing homes; and alternatives to opiates for pain management.

Continuing medical education, nursing and pharmacy credits are offered.
