April 27, 2017: Statement of Betsy Ryan, President and CEO of NJHA, on Opposition to the Amended American Health Care Act

“Our number one priority is the health of the people of New Jersey, and access to health insurance and essential healthcare services is a necessity for good health. The amended version of the American Health Care Act does nothing to ease our worries about the loss of health insurance coverage for 800,000 N.J. residents and loss of funding for the Medicaid program that serves 1.8 million residents."

"On the contrary, the amended version now raises even greater concerns about the erosion of patient protections like essential health benefits and price discrimination against people with pre-existing health conditions such as cancer and diabetes. The amendments make a bad bill even worse, and we remain firmly opposed to the AHCA and its threat to the health of N.J. residents.”
