Trustee Activities A Dinner held in Newark, September 8th, relative to the formation of a Trustee Section of the Association, brought together thirty-one trustees from twelve counties in New Jersey, with Mr. William Orchard as chairman. It was the consensus of opinion that a committee should be chosen to consider the establishment of a Trustee Section. This committee functioned on several occasions through the winter, both in considering the possibility of a State-wide Council and also relative to legislation, and finally on May 6th, at the Spring meeting of the Association, the Trustee Section was formally established as an integral part of the New Jersey Hospital Association.
... together with our Trustees, and the men and women filling the responsible positions in our hospitals, this association can be blended into a working force ...
Hamilton Wright Mabie, in "The Torch Bearer," gives us a concept of the aim of any achievement in arriving at the goal. May I close with his beautiful words: "So they crown not the runner but the race, and honor not the bearer but the torch; and they who have run well and faithfully are glad, for they too have found that the joy lies not in any greeting from another but in driving back the night."
