Scholarship Recipients and Golfers Win Big at NJHA Tournament
September 26, 2006
Yesterday's 25th NJHA Executive/Trustee Golf Tournament at TPC Jasna Polana presented another beautiful day for golfers and recognition for two deserving college students.
NJHA's Health Research and Educational Trust presented its annual health careers scholarships to Judy Kimemia of Elizabeth and Christine Baldino of Marlboro. Kimemia is a single mother pursuing her undergraduate degree in nursing at UMDNJ. Baldino is a graduate student majoring in occupational therapy at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Each student will receive a $2,000 HRET scholarship to continue her education.
Said NJHA President and CEO Gary Carter, "Our industry needs bright and committed young minds to carry on healthcare's tradition of caring and excellence. These two recipients are fine examples of healthcare's future."
A number of prizes were awarded to golfers from hospitals throughout the state. Among them was a hole-in-one for Bill Bowman, Virtua Health board chairman, on the 11th hole. Coveted team honors went to Palisades Medical Center, with Monmouth Medical Center taking second, Solaris Health System third and Hackettstown Community Hospital in fourth.
